Common mistakes to avoid
List values as of a single date, using recent statements. Use realistic values for your home, car and belongings rather than what you paid. Include every debt, including smaller ones such as store cards and personal loans, because a lender will likely see them on your credit report anyway.
When a lender needs its own form
Some lenders and programs require a specific form. US Small Business Administration loans, for example, use SBA Form 413. This statement is a good way to gather your numbers first, but check what your lender accepts before you submit it.
Signing a financial statement means certifying that it is accurate, and knowingly giving false information to a lender can have serious consequences. This template is not legal or financial advice.
Common questions
Is it safe to enter my financial information here?
Your entries are processed in your browser and the file is created on your device. Nothing you type is sent to PaycheckBay. If you prefer, download the blank list and fill it in by hand.
Should I include my home?
Yes. Include its realistic market value under assets and the mortgage balance under liabilities.
Should I include retirement accounts?
Yes, at their current balance. Some lenders may discount them because of taxes and early-withdrawal rules.
How often should I update it?
Once a year is enough for tracking net worth. Lenders generally want a recent statement, so prepare a fresh one when you apply.
